Coaches Poll College Basketball Rankings Final Top 25 2000 to 2009
College basketball in the 2000s was weird.
Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to the 2003 national title, but he was one-and-done. 2000 Michigan State is the only break in the Big Ten gloom of national titles since Michigan won it all in 1989, and Maryland took home the 2022 national championship.
Florida won back-to-back national titles in 2007 and 2008, but that just hasn't registered historically as much as it should've. North Carolina won a few national championships, UConn started its push to blue blood status, and Duke was good every year, but ...
There was little to no star power with most of the top prospects were turning pro early or were gone before America really started to care.
It was also the first decade when the USA TODAY College Basketball Coaches Polls concluded each of the seasons with the final rankings coming after the NCAA Tournament was over. So all the final No. 1 teams were national champs.
We give each final No. 1 team 25 points, No. 2 team 24, and on from there to come up with the final decade rankings for the 2000s. Below that are the year-by-year final USA TODAY College Basketball Coaches Polls.
