West Virginia (3-4) vs. Baylor (7-0) Game Preview
Why West Virginia Will Win
On a three-game losing streak, the Mountaineers need something to change the season around, and after two weeks off to rest up, this is their chance to finally make a splash.
The defense might be giving up more points than anyone in the Big 12, but the pass rush has been dangerous enough to be a problem, and the offensive line is doing a decent job of keeping defensive fronts out of the backfield.
The Baylor pass defense is doing a decent job overall, but it can be picked on. Iowa State’s Brock Purdy went off for well over 300 yards, Jett Duffey and the Texas Tech attack threw well, and this is the game to finally get the WVU passing attack working.
Kendall can get hot – he bombed aways on Texas and ripped up NC State – and again, he has the line to give him time. However …

Why Baylor Will Win
The West Virginia offensive line isn’t doing a thing.
Kendall and the passing game might be okay, but they’re not good enough to make up for a ground attack that’s barely averaging three yards per carry and only hit 100 yards twice in six games.
The O line isn’t generating any sort of a push, and while it’s good in pass protection, it hasn’t seen anything like the pass rush about to come from the Bear defensive front.
Baylor keeps on getting it done with a tough offense, a disruptive defense, and by dominating the turnover battle. West Virginia doesn’t take the ball away and doesn’t give its woeful offense a whole lot of breaks.
Mostly, there’s just no downfield passing game happening. Again, Kendall is good, but he’s not going to scare the Baylor secondary by stretching the field. That’s not Baylor – Charlie Brewer is averaging over 14 yards per completion, and he should have all the time he wants to bomb away.

What’s Going To Happen
Last in the Big 12 in scoring offense, last in the Big 12 in scoring defense, this hasn’t been a great run so far for the Mountaineers in the Neal Brown era. Baylor has a way of struggling a wee bit to put teams away, but it’ll be able to pull ahead in the second half after having to fight through a good first half fight.
