Texas Tech vs BYU Game Preview

Why Texas Tech Will Win

Texas Tech can run the ball.

It might be a high-flying program that likes to wing the ball around, but it’s running well - and it needs to count on the offensive line to take over.

Tajh Brooks was on a run of four straight 100-yard games before getting to 98 in the loss to Kansas State. He’s a proven workhorse averaging six yards per carry, and BYU can’t stop him.

The Cougar defense is having a rough time.

It gave up close to 1,100 yards over the last two games, couldn’t slow down the TCU passing game, the Cincinnati running game, and isn’t generating a lick of a pass rush to help the cause.

Texas Tech vs BYU Who Will Win

Texas Tech turned the ball over five times in the last two games, and now it’s likely down to its third string quarterback. The defense will keep this close against the lousy BYU attack, but the offense will give it up a few times.

BYU won’t do anything pretty, but the passing game will be good enough, the defense will bend without a ton of breaks, and it’ll be a key fifth win to keep making a push for one of the Big 12’s better bowls.
