TCU (4-3) vs. Oklahoma State (5-3) Game Preview
Why TCU Will Win
This is the right team to deal with the high-powered Oklahoma State offense.
The TCU defense hasn’t been a brick wall all year long, but the defensive front has been excellent against the run, the secondary isn’t getting torched on a regular basis, and the efficient passing game is keeping control of games.
The Horned Frogs lead the Big 12 in total defense, partially because the offense is great at owning the clock. In this, though, it’s going to be more about whether or not TCU’s own running game can get get moving.
Last week in the win over Texas, it was freshman Max Duggan who came up large, hitting 70% of his passes with big play after big play as he was dared to come through. Oklahoma State’s defense isn’t good enough to dare anyone to do anything, but Duggan has proven himself able to handle the pressure.

Why Oklahoma State Will Win
How do you beat the Horned Frogs? Be able to produce by air and by land, and that’s what Oklahoma State does.
The TCU defense might be the best in the Big 12 – at least statistically – but when it’s not working against sharp passing teams, the team loses.
Overall, the Horned Frogs have been fantastic at not letting quarterbacks to get comfortable – they haven’t allowed a 50% completion rate in three of their last four games. However, they were rocked by Iowa State’s Brock Purdy and hit hard by SMU’s Shane Buechele, losing to both of them.
Spencer Sanders might not be Joe Burrow when it comes accuracy, but Oklahoma State is 4-0 when he’s hitting 60% of his throws and 1-3 when he isn’t. But if he’s not on, that’s what Chuba Hubbard and the Big 12’s best running game is for.
It’s possible to run on the TCU defense, but it hasn’t dealt with a whole lot of teams that can do it. SMU and Iowa State – along with its accurate passing days from their respective quarterbacks – combined to run for seven touchdowns.

What’s Going To Happen
The Oklahoma State offensive balance will be the difference.
The Horned Frogs were able to get by a one-dimensional Purdue team on the road, and they beat Texas last week by coming up with a ton of takeaways. The Cowboys have a turnover problem – and that will keep it close – but Sanders will have a nice game and Hubbard will do just enough to keep everything moving.
