Ohio State at Wisconsin: No. 1 College Football Pick Against The Spread

1. Ohio State at Wisconsin

Line: Ohio State -14.5
Pick: Ohio State

In an Always Go With Your First Answer sort of way, I was WAY off on a first thought/knee-jerk line call. I honestly thought this would open up at Ohio State by 20, at least.

There’s the Luke Fickell aspect to this - the former Ohio State player and one-year Buckeye head coach now doing his thing at Wisconsin - which might make things sort of interesting, but America, did you not see this Ohio State defense against Penn State?

It’s not like the Nittany Lions are Tua and Tyreek winging it around, but they sure as shoot aren’t as bad as Wisconsin and the 114th most efficient passing attack in America.

The Badgers couldn’t score against Iowa, but that's Iowa. They couldn’t really score on Rutgers, either. Or Illinois, until the final moments.

But I get it. They gave up 31 to Washington State, 21 to Illinois, and no one else has scored more than 17 on this D, but what, Buffalo couldn’t get the O rolling? Georgia Southern and its six turnovers are a marking point? Rutgers, Iowa, Purdue?

The Badgers are still working in their backup quarterback, the running game needs to handle the ball at least 40 times to win - no one has 40 carries against OSU - and this the nastiest defense it faced so far, including Iowa's.

No, the Buckeye offense hasn’t been amazing, but it’s still No. 1 in the Big Ten with enough of a passing game to be a problem for a Badger front that might have a hard time getting to Kyle McCord.

But this pick is about that D.

Everyone saw the Penn State and Notre Dame games. No one else has come within 20 of the Buckeyes.

The Badgers won’t, either.
