North Carolina (2-3) vs. Georgia Tech (1-3) Game Preview
Why North Carolina Will Win
The Georgia Tech offense really, really isn’t working.
The pivot from the triple-option attack has been painful, struggling to convert on third downs, failing to generate any sort of a consistent passing game, and worst of all, having no luck scoring.
So far in the three games against FBS teams, the Yellow Jackets are averaging ten points per game. Throw in the 24 hung up on Citadel, and the team is still dead last in the nation in scoring.
North Carolina’s offense isn’t anything special, but it’s effective when it gets its chances, the passing attack is fine, and there shouldn’t be too many concerns against a Yellow Jacket D that’s not generating enough of a pass rush to be a concern.
Why Georgia Tech Will Win
The North Carolina O isn’t all that special. It’s not going to come out and hang 50 on the board – the Yellow Jackets should be able to stay in the game throughout.
It’s possible to run on the Tar Heels. No one has gone off on them – including Clemson – but Georgia Tech should run for over four yards per carry and should be able to hammer away as long as it keeps at it.
The Yellow Jacket O has to find an identity right away. Something has to start working, but if it’s not happening against the Tar Heels, the team needs to do everything else right. It doesn’t get hit with a lot of flags, and it should be even in turnover margin. However …

What’s Going To Happen
Unlike past Georgia Tech teams, this one can’t control the tempo even a little bit. It’ll be a battle between the two offenses to see which one can get off the field the fastest, but the Yellow Jackets will have a harder time going on long scoring drives.
Don’t expect anything scintillating, but coming off the heartbreaker against Clemson, the Tar Heels will pick themselves up off the mat offensively in the second half after the defense carries them in the first.
