Michigan State vs Ohio State Game Preview

Why Michigan State Will Win

Could the win over Nebraska possibly be a wee bit of a breakthrough moment?

In this disaster of a season, Michigan State should’ve beaten Rutgers, it was in the game into the fourth quarter at Minnesota, and last week it finally got the passing game working and the defense pitched one of its best games of the season against the Huskers.

There’s still the Penn State game to play, but this is everything. This is the bowl game against an Ohio State team that’s winning by double-digits against everyone but the elite, but isn’t playing great to get there.

Ohio State’s running game isn’t there, the Spartan defense has forced six takeaways over the last two games, QB Katin Houser might be a player, and …

Michigan State will try to establish the run, but it won’t work. There isn’t enough up front to provide a push for an attack that hasn’t been close to three yards per carry over the last three of the last four games, and …

Michigan State vs Ohio State Who Will Win

Relatively quietly, Kyle McCord has been solid.

The two interceptions against Wisconsin aside, he has only thrown two other picks this season, he’s keeping things moving without a ground game to help the cause, and when it doubt, he’s finding Marvin Harrison Jr.

But this game will be about the defense. Ohio State will go on two early scoring drives on two McCord touchdown passes, and the D will swarm over everything the Spartans try to do to keep up.
