The Falcons will try getting the Scot Loeffler era going with a nice layup win. Morgan State is coming off a rough 4-7 season – getting whacked around by Akron 41-7 in its lone game against an FBS team – but it returns a team loaded with experience.
Why Morgan State Will Win
The Bears should be able to control the clock and the tempo. They might not have a talented offense, but they get eight starters back on a defense that had a whole slew of problems, but did a great job of getting off the field. The Bowling Green attack will be dangerous, but it’s not going to be big on time of possession.
Combine that with the possibility of owning the turnover margin – the Falcons were a giveaway machine last season, and Morgan State was great at takeaways, and there’s a chance this stays close at times, but …
Why Bowling Green Will Win
Morgan State’s offense still won’t work. It might have plenty of experience, and it has a few good skill guys, but the O isn’t going to be explosive. More importantly, the Bear defense will give up its share of big plays, and the Bowling Green offense will provide them.
Projected quarterback Jarret Doege is gone – he left for West Virginia – but the passing game is going to still going to do whatever it wants. Expect close to 300 yards and a whole lot of deep shots to stretch the field.

What’s Going To Happen
For one week, the Bowling Green defense is going to look like the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. Things will change up fast the week after against Kansas State, but against the Morgan State offense, it’ll be a perfect scrimmage and great first game for Loeffler.
The Bowling Green offense might not be perfect, but it’ll be strong enough to come up with a target-practice performance to get the offense off the ground.
