There’s one game remaining in the bowl hunt for most teams on the bubble – two chances for the fortunate ones needing more chances. What five-win teams are still in the mix for a bowl? Who’s going to get one, and who’ll miss the cut?

Remembering that bowl eligibility doesn’t necessarily guarantee a spot, here’s what’s ahead for all the teams on the bowl bubble.

Knocked Out: Air Force (losing to Wyoming 35-27), Charlotte (losing to FIU 42-35), Illinois (losing to Iowa 63-0), Virginia Tech (losing to Miami 38-14, but there’s a possible 12th game against Marshall if the Hokies beat Virginia)

Off Bubble & Bowl Eligible: BYU (beating New Mexico State 45-10), Hawaii (beating UNLV 35-28), Louisiana (beating South Alabama 48-38), Miami (beating Virginia Tech 38-14), Oklahoma State (beating West Virginia 45-41), South Carolina (beating Chattanooga 49-9), Toledo (beating Kent State 56-34)

American Athletic Conference

SMU (5-6)

The Mustangs suffered a setback in the bowl hunt thanks to the 28-18 loss to Memphis, and they also got knocked out of the West title hunt. Now they get a trip to Tulsa to try getting bowl eligible for the second year in a row and the second time since 2012.

Tulane (5-6)

Like SMU, Tulane was pushing to stay in the hunt for the American Athletic title when … Houston – without the coatless Ed Oliver – rolled 48-17. Now the Green Wave have to handle a mediocre Navy team at home in modified option on modified option action. Tulane will pull it off for their first bowl appearance since 2013.

ACC

Florida State (5-6)

The 36-year bowl streak is still alive. Florida State rallied back to beat Boston College 22-21, but now it has to beat Florida to get to six wins. It’s not going to beat Florida to get to six wins.

Wake Forest (5-6)

The Demon Deacons wanted to get bowl eligible at home against Pitt after shocking Wake Forest 27-23 on the road the week before. Instead, the offense couldn’t get going in a 34-13 loss. Now the Demon Deacons have to pull off a big performance against Duke on the road – and they’re not going to get it.
