5. Not exactly the Pac-12 everyone wanted

Imagine going back to mid-August and telling a Pac-12 fan that the conference of Khalil Tate, Bryce Love, Mike Leach, Justin Herbert, Kevin Sumlin and Chip Kelly would turn into a defensive slugfest with the first ever scoreless first quarter in a Pac-12 game and with little to no offensive pop.

But for those of you complaining about the lack of defense in the Big 12 and across the football world, this was for you.

It might not be sustainable to be all about the defense going forward in the Pac-12 – this season was an aberration – but it certainly helps. For all of the league’s flash and dash, Stanford and Washington have been able to thrive on D.

What else did you expect when the league’s two best conferences went at it?

However, this wasn’t the type of showcase game that those who aren’t into the whole Pac-12 After Dark thing will see and decide that the Pac-12 is for them.

It’s not the fault of Washington and Utah, and they obviously don’t have to apologize for anything, but this is supposed to be the showcase for the league’s moment to shine.

NEXT: Something has to be done about the location
