The great all-around receiver stepped in under center a few weeks ago, hit Arkansas for close to 200 rushing yards, ran for 204 last week against Missouri, and the ground game has found its thing.
And that’s how this has to work.
UK is 13-0 over the last two years when it runs for 175 yards or more, and it needs to keep the machine working against a Vol team that found some offense of its own over the last few weeks.
The Cats aren’t throwing, they have one of the nation’s least-efficient passing games, and they’re not necessarily dominating the clock. It doesn’t matter. As long as they’re grinding things out, it takes everyone else out of their own rhythm.
Missouri wasn’t able to get comfortable last week, and could get thrown off fast. However …

Why Tennessee Will Win
Tennessee can stop the run.
Good passing games rip up the Vols, but ever since getting hit by QB Dan Ellington and the Georgia State running game to start the season, they’ve been great at getting into the backfield and strong enough to survive against the better ground games.
They’ve only allowed more than four yards per carry three times this year, allowed fewer than three yards per pop in wins over South Carolina and UAB, and it seems to be getting stronger.
The Tennessee offense hasn’t been able to run all that well overall, but it got enough to get by against UAB last week, the passing game clicked this week, and now the team is playing with more confidence and a whole lot of fire.
Ever since pushing hard late against Alabama – right up until the scoop-and-six – things are going just fine. The Vols have won three of their last four, and now they have a Kentucky team that fits exactly what they need.
Big offenses are a problem for UT. That’s not UK.

What’s Going To Happen
It’s not just that Kentucky gets Tennessee at home. It’s that it’s had two weeks off to gear up and get ready for the finishing kick. This has been a banged up team that needed the break, and it’s going to show for a running game that will work from the start. The Vols have been playing much, much better, but Kentucky will go Kentucky and drag down the tempo and play this to its level.
