It’s been a good season under Justin Wilcox with a win at Auburn, a close call against Miami, and with enough wins to get into bowl eligibility range in the first year in the ACC. But lose to Stanford in The Game, drop the date at SMU, and it’ll be a losing season.
After a 3-0 start - and as the only team to lose to a miserable Florida State - that wouldn’t be okay.
Stanford was struggling through a six-game losing streak after shocking Syracuse, and then it pulled out the type of game we all knew was there somewhere.
The Cardinal held on in a blast of a 38-35 win over Louisville. At 3-7, beat Cal, beat San Jose State, and all of a sudden the season would feel like a big success.
