Why ULM Will Win
There’s no way Ole Miss isn’t looking past this.
The Rebels got wiped out by Georgia, have the Egg Bowl showdown against Mississippi State up next in a short week, and they need to get in, stay healthy, and move on as fast as humanly possible.
ULM is having its issues - there’s no running game, turnovers are a problem, and it’s on an eight-game losing streak - but the defense hasn’t been all that bad. It’s holding up okay against the run, it’s not allowing teams to get hot with the passing game like they did early in the season, and if Ole Miss really is unfocused, the takeaways will be there.
They big defensive plays have slowed down lately, but ULM is decent at coming up with a few big takeaways here and there. But …

Why Ole Miss Will Win
Yeah, ULM is having its issues.
The offensive line isn’t generating any sort of a push, there’s a big problem keeping defenses out of the backfield, and Ole Miss brings the heat from the defensive front.
Against one of the worst teams in American on third downs - on both sides of the ball - the Rebels should be able to strike quickly and get up early. This isn’t a game to let linger for a while and then be done.
ULM has been down 79-23 combined at halftime over the last four games, and 38-0 in the last two. Ole Miss should be able to march with efficiency and put the heat on.

There’s still a whole lot for Ole Miss to play for. A New Year’s Six bowl game is still possible by winning the last two games and getting a Missouri misfire somewhere - being the third-best SEC team isn’t a bad deal.
But this has been a team that plays up or down to the competition. It’ll get up, go into a lull, and bring it back to put this away. It’s the final home game of the season - Senior Day always brings the effort, even if the focus is on what’s about to happen in Starkville five days later.
