How many great quarterbacks do you need? The Ole Miss offense was eighth in the nation last year averaging close to 500 yards per game, and outside of wide receiver most of the key parts are back, and then some. Jaxson Dart came in from USC and did a good job leading the attack, and now in the fight is Spencer Sanders - an All-Big 12 talent who almost took Oklahoma State to the College Football Playoff in 2021 - along with Walker Howard from LSU. There is no wrong answer.
It’s also not a wrong answer to hand the ball off to Quinshon Judkins, either, after running for 1,565 yards and 16 touchdowns as one of the most dynamic young backs in college football. With Ulysses Bentley - a statistical star in 2020 for SMU who was banged up most of last year behind Judkins - also in the mix, the offense has its backs behind a veteran offensive front that was great for the ground game but struggled at keeping defenses out of the backfield.
The wide receivers will be fine as long as the transfers rock. Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade are back but Malik Heath (Green Bay) and Jonathan Mingo (Carolina) were the two most explosive targets. But it’s Lane Kiffin, and there’s a transfer portal.
Chris Marshall (Texas A&M) and Tre Harris (Louisiana Tech) will fill in the gaps, and UTSA's Zakhari Franklin will blow up - the late get caught 93 passes for 1,137 yards and 15 TDs last year. The tight end situation is fantastic with Michael Trigg in place along with Memphis transfer Caden Prieskorn.
