Can the defense do … more?
It got ripped on way too much, but it was hardly the worst bunch in the SEC. The pass rush was fine and should be solid again with the pressure coming from a variety of spots. It starts up front with the addition of Joshua Harris (NC State) along with JJ Pegues forming a strong tackle combination to work around.

The linebackers can move. There aren’t a slew of thumpers, but they can get into the backfield with senior Khari Coleman on the outside and Louisville transfer Monty Montgomery coming in. This bunch will do their part to get to the quarterback, but the veteran end rotation should step in the new D taking on more of the heavy lifting.

The secondary didn’t get lit up too badly, but it didn’t make enough big things happen with just eight interceptions on the year with two in the final six games. Zamari Walton (Georgia Tech) is a big corner, Teja Young (Florida Atlantic) is a baller, and safety John Saunders Jr. (Miami University) are instant fixes who’ll take over starting roles right away.
