The offense is a blast.
Yes, North Texas is on a three-game losing streak, but that’s partly because it played Tulane, Memphis, and UTSA - three of the AAC’s biggest stars. Even against that group, the O has gone off with close to 1,500 yards combined in the three games - the Mean Green are No. 1 in the conference in total offense and average 35 points per game.
SMU might be solid overall, and it might be rolling, but it has to gear up for a firefight. It already played Oklahoma and TCU earlier in the year, it’s used to good offenses, but with this attack UNT has a puncher’s chance. However …

Why SMU Will Win
The North Texas defense gives it up as quickly as the offense can get it.
There’s no pass rush whatsoever, they aren’t enough third down stops, and overall the D is the worst in the conference and 130th in the nation giving up 470 yards per game.
SMU has the offense to handle it.
It’s on a tear with close to 1,700 yards of total offense over the last three games, but it’s more than just the O. The defense is taking the ball away, hasn’t allowed over 200 passing yards since late September, and is coming up with takeaways - the three against Rice last week pulled the 36-31 game out of the fire.
