2019 Iowa Hawkeyes Football Schedule Analysis

– The Iowa State game is now more than just a feisty in-state showdown. The Cyclones are for real now, making this a game worth paying attention to on a national scale. Miami University isn’t going to be an automatic pushover in the opener, and Middle Tennessee is a likely bowl team.

– If you were to ask Iowa the three teams in the West it wouldn’t want to play on the road, and they’d be Wisconsin, Northwestern and Nebraska. Iowa has to play all three on the road over the course of the second half of the season.

Minnesota and Illinois are division home games in the middle of November, and getting Purdue at home helps – there can’t be any misfires against any of those three.

– Not playing Ohio State or Michigan State from the East helps, but going to Michigan is a big, big problem, and following it up with Penn State isn’t fun.
