What’s Going To Happen
There’s still too much work to do for both teams – and too much hope for Marshall losses – to make this about the C-USA East title, but FIU needs a win now to get bowl eligible – it has Miami and a trip to Marshall next – and FAU is has to win out and get a Herd loss to take the division.
The Golden Panthers have been able to beat the weak and the sad, but they keep dropping the big games they’ve needed to have. The pass rush isn’t doing enough, the run defense has been too leaky, and QB James Morgan hasn’t been consistent enough.
Meanwhile, Florida Atlantic is coming up with takeaway after takeaway to make up for its various problems.
FIU doesn’t have a problem with giveaways, but FAU is forcing mistakes with 19 takeaways on the season helped by a defensive front that’s living behind the line.
The FAU backs will take turns pounding through the FIU run defense for over 200 yards. The Golden Panthers won’t get the sustained drives to keep up.
