What’s Going To Happen
FIU might have lost to Florida Atlantic a few weeks ago, but thanks to a win over Middle Tennessee, all it has to do is beat Charlotte and take down Marshall to get to the Conference USA Championship against UAB.
Charlotte has struggled offensively all season long, with just 16 points over the last two weeks, but it can still get bowl eligible by beating FIU and Florida Atlantic.
But you can’t win if you can’t score.
The 49ers are amazing at controlling the clock and bringing games down to their level – the defense is fantastic against the run – but the offense simply doesn’t have enough pop. There’s not enough explosion, and there’s not enough production from the offensive line.
FIU is also solid in controlling the clock, but its offensive line is terrific, and the passing attack can move the chains and get the ball down the field to open it up a bit.
With its D, Charlotte will keep the score low and the game close, but it won’t be enough. FIU will be a +2 in turnover margin and will get enough out of QB James Morgan – an efficient 200-yard day with no picks – to get a good win to set up a shot next week at taking the East.
