Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl What Happened

- Rain, rain, and even more rain. It was pounding when the game started, it was pounding when the game ended, and both teams had a nightmare of a time with it. There were 11 fumbles between the two teams, neither offense could get anything consistently going, and it was anything but a clean game in almost every way.

- The two teams traded field goals in the first quarter, Appalachian State was able to come up with two long scoring drives to get up 13-3, and that was about it. A turnover led to a Miami 23 yard touchdown run from Rashad Amos, and it became a field position game after that.

- The paint on the field from all the logos made it like a skating rink - everyone was slipping and sliding through the conditions. Miami fumbled it six times losing three, Appalachian State fumbled five times and lost it twice.

Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl What It All Means

- It was crazy rain. That’s it. Miami got what it needed with the weather helping to keep the score low, but no one could hang on to the ball, the conditions were awful, and there wasn’t anything big happening with either offense. Down to a third string quarterback, the RedHawks did what they could, but a few dropped passes and all the fumbles hurt.

- It’s not a nine-win season for Appalachian State - the eighth in the last nine years. The team got to the Sun Belt Championship, beat the MAC Championship, and won a bowl game for the first time since 2020. With this victory, the program is now an incredible 7-1 in bowl games.

- It might not have been anything beautiful, but it was a fun game to watch - if you weren’t in the stadium. The players seemed to have fun with the bad weather, it was a game everyone will remember because of the rain, and both teams did what they could through all the problems. It might not have been way the bowl types might have wanted it, but it was the fifth straight Cure Bowl decided by one score.
