- Week 12 Schedule, Predictions

This will be a theme this week - I’m not sure why the lines/totals are a certain way, but I’ll just go with them even though I must be missing something obvious.

The BYU defense is good, the Kansas defense isn’t. The Kansas offense is red-hot, the BYU offense should open it up at home, and between the two getting to 57 shouldn’t be a massive problem.

The bad Jayhawk D is the saving grace here. The O has to open it up a bit more, and that’s partly what the team has been good for 27 points or more in every Big 12 game including 42 against Houston and 45 last week against Iowa State.

BYU’s defense hasn’t been a rock. At home it kept Arizona to 19 but the total still went past 57. It stuffed Kansas State allowing just nine, but that was a weird game.

This should be played in the 30s for both sides, and at the very least, BYU should be responsible for at least 35 points of workload.

8. Syracuse at Cal

Line: Cal -10

Prediction: Syracuse

Again, I must be missing something the rest of the world is reading, but okay. I’m going with it anyway because giving Syracuse double-digit points seems a tad askew.

Yes, it’s a cross-country trip a few times zones to the left, and yeah, it’s the fourth road game in five dates. But the Pitt game was the only time the team got rocked last year, and that’s because Kyle McCord threw a gazillion pick-sixes.

Cal is good, but some algorithm somewhere seems to have liked the idea of a 44-7 win over Oregon State and 46-36 win over Wake Forest. Syracuse is better than Wake Forest, and it has the offense to keep up almost any pace this Cal team can set.

Think more like a Cal mid-30ish, Syracuse high-20ish type of game instead of some sort of major blowout.
