North Texas Mean Green College Football Preview 2021: What Will Happen, Season Prediction

The team will be better overall than the 2020 version that went 4-6 and got ripped to shreds in the inaugural Myrtle Beach Bowl, but it’s going to be a rough run.

The nation’s worst defense is going to be better. There’s too much experience, too much depth, and too many changes being made to be totally miserable again, but it’s not going to become a brick wall in one offseason.

The best offense in Conference USA won’t be quite as strong, but it’ll still be among the most dynamic, balanced, and with enough pop to keep up the pace against just about everyone.

The problem is the schedule. It’s hard.

Set The North Texas Mean Green Regular Season Win Total At … 4

Head coach Seth Littrell was on a nice roll with two straight nine-win seasons, but he’s got to pull this thing up out of the nosedive after two straight four-win campaigns. Unfortunately, the home games aren’t a breeze like they need to be.

The Mean Green will beat Northwestern State, and they need to win the November games against UTEP and UTSA, but it’ll take something big to beat UAB, Marshall and Liberty.

They’ll win a road game or two against a Southern Miss, or a Rice, or a FIU, or a Louisiana Tech, but all four of those teams are stronger and they’re 50/50 games at best.

It’s going to be fun no matter what.

North Texas might not be all that great, but with that offense, that defense, and that schedule, if its games combine for well over 70 points per outing again … yay.
