3. At least ten teams that finished in the 2020 rankings won’t make the final top 25
I love you Coastal Carolina.
I love the style, the fun, the color scheme, and the heart that this team plays with. However, after finishing 12th in the final College Football Playoff rankings, don’t expect it to finish up in the top 25 this time around.
I actually think Northwestern could be as good if not better than the 2020 version. I also don’t think it’ll finish 14th in the final CFP rankings – or even in the top 25.
Indiana (11), BYU (16), Louisiana (19), San Jose State (22), Tulsa (24) – give me all five of those programs in the Not Finishing In The CFP Top 25 pile.
Okay, out of the seven teams listed, maybe one of them will get into CFP top 25 – I’ll set the line at 0.5. Those rankings come before the bowls and College Football Playoff.
Buffalo (25 in both AP and Coaches) won’t be in either of the final big polls. Neither will Ball State (23 in both), and there’s sure to be one other stunning disappointment – maybe Oklahoma State (19 Coaches, 20 AP) and/or Liberty (17 AP, 18 Coaches).
So that’s the crazy call – ten teams that finished in either the 2020 CFP top 25 or last season’s AP or Coaches final rankings won’t make it back in this time around.
