Pitt Panthers College Football Preview 2021: Top Players
Best Pitt Panthers Offensive Player
QB Kenny Pickett, Sr.
He throws too many interceptions – 25 in his 39 games of work – and he could stand to be a bit more accurate, but he’s going into his fifth year with the program and fourth as a starter.
Getting better and better as he goes, can run just enough to survive – he has 16 touchdown runs – and he’s getting more efficient as his career has gone one. If he can go from solid to sensational, Pitt will start winning more of the close games.
2. RB Vincent Davis, Jr.
3. WR Jordan Addison, Soph.
4. TE Lucas Krull, Sr.
5. RB AJ Davis, Sr.
Best Pitt Panthers Defensive Player
LB SirVocea Dennis, Jr.
The 6-1, 220-pound Syracuse native got away from the Orange and is turning into one of the ACC’s best all-around defenders. He might not be all that big, but he’s ultra-athletic and he can fly to the ball, finishing second on the team with 57 tackles to go along with four sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss.
2. LB Cam Bright, Sr.
3. DE John Morgan, Jr.
4. LB Phil Campbell, Sr.
5. CB Damarris Mathis, Sr.
Top Incoming Pitt Panthers Transfer
OT Marcus Minor, Sr.
The Pitt offensive line needs to be stronger in pass protection and has to deliver a whole lot more for the ground attack. It gets back three starters, but it could use more beef and a solid versatile presence.
The 6-4, 325-pound Minor was a great get for Maryland and turned into a decent starter working at guard and tackle. It would be a huge plus if he could grab a job inside.
