North Texas Mean Green College Football Preview 2021: Top Players
Best North Texas Mean Green Offensive Player
OT Jacob Brammer, Jr.
In a perfect world, the starting quarterback is the best player, but the gig is still up in the air.
The offensive line is going to be a plus. It’s full of experience, it was great in pass protection, and it has upside to be the best in the league. The 6-4, 301-pound Brammer is the strongest blocker of the bunch coming off a second-team All-Conference USA run at right tackle.
2. WR Deonte Simpson, Soph.
3. C Manase Mose, Jr.
4. OG Jacob Brammer, Jr.
5. RB DeAndre Torrey, Sr.
Best North Texas Mean Green Defensive Player
DT Dion Novel, Sr.
The Mean Green defense might have been a disaster, but the 6-4, 330-pound Novil tried to do his part. The First-Team All-Conference USA tackle was one of the few bright spots, making 37 tackles with 2.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss. Now everything has to work around him.
2. S Makyle Sanders, Sr.
3. LB KD Davis, Jr.
4. LB Tyreke Davis, Sr.
5. P Bernardo Rodriguez, Jr.
Top Incoming North Texas Mean Green Transfer
QB Jace Ruder, Soph.
The North Texas passing game was fantastic, but the O juggled the quarterbacks with three seeing time. Jason Bean is gone now to Kansas, but Austin Aune is a good downfield passer who knows the system. However, Ruder is a terrific talent who’s going to push hard for the gig … or he’ll be a strong part of another rotation.
The 6-3, 225-pounder who can move was a great get for North Carolina, but he was stuck behind future NFL starter Sam Howell. He needs experience, but he’s a smart, talented option with a world of upside.
