Colorado State Rams College Football Preview 2021: What Will Happen, Season Prediction
Let’s just say the first year under Steve Addazio was a tad rocky.
There were allegations of not taking the pandemic seriously enough, to never being able to get the season going with just four games, to struggling in a 1-3 campaign that mostly served to be a trial run to get ready for 2021.
On the plus side, now the Rams should be more like an Addazio team running the ball while also keeping the positives from last year.
The pass rush was fantastic, there were chances to develop several positions and beef up the depth, and the run defense was solid.
This time around – thanks to the super-senior season with a whole lot of good parts returning – the offensive line should be a whole lot stronger, the defense is deeper, and the special teams that were a massive issue in coverage should turn into a strength.
Set The Colorado State Rams Regular Season Win Total At … 5
The problem is a schedule without a whole lot of sure thing wins. South Dakota State isn’t a layup – it just lost the FCS national championship – hosting Vanderbilt isn’t easy, and going to Toledo and Iowa is a problem.
Most of the big conference games are at home – Boise State, San Jose State, Air Force, Nevada – but there’s a midseason run of three road games in four weeks and five away games in seven dates. It’s going to take a few upsets to get into bowl contention.
The team should be just solid enough to be more competitive, but after three straight losing seasons, the program is overdue for a winning campaign.
Addazio will get it closer.
