Football: 9-2 overall, 6-2 in conference, 2nd in Big 12*
Basketball: 16-11 overall, 9-8 in conference, T6th in Big 12
It wasn’t quite the year the Sooners might have wanted, but the football team won another Big 12 title and throttled Florida in the bowl, and the hoops side had a decent season with a tournament appearance.

Yeah, the football team had a struggle of a first season under Dave Aranda – which is why the Bears aren’t a click higher – but you win a national championship in basketball like that over an unbeaten juggernaut like Gonzaga, you get into the top three.
2 Ohio State

Football: 7-1 overall, 5-0 in conference, 1st in Big Ten East*
Basketball: 21-10 overall, 12-8 in conference, 5th in Big Ten
An argument could be made that Ohio State deserves to be a whole lot lower after the embarrassment of losing to a 15-seed in the NCAA Tournament, but football overtakes that. Winning the Big Ten title and exorcising the Clemson demon after the rough loss the year before made up for the hoops gaffe.
