MAC Season Grade: B
It was as good a season as it could’ve been asked for considering the late start and the lack of games across the board. Buffalo was fun, Ball State roared to a MAC title and a bowl win over Mountain West champion San Jose State, and there were a slew of fun games.
Bowling Green, Akron, and Northern Illinois were awful, but the other nine teams were all competitive among each other.
2019 Final Grade: C
Akron 2020 Season Grade: C-
The Zips won a game. Considering that wasn’t a given going into the season and coming off a disastrous 2019, that’s a plus. They got destroyed too often, but at least they showed a sign of life going forward.
Bowling Green 2020 Season Grade: D-
Dude, you lost to Akron. The Falcons went winless being outscored by a total of 225-57. The only reason why it’s not an F is because they are who we thought they’d be.
Buffalo 2020 Season Grade: B
To be way too harsh for a 6-1 squad that took down a solid Marshall team in a bowl game, it lost the one game it had to win. Buffalo was the best team in the MAC, it had the most talent, and it got dropped by Ball State in the conference championship by ten.
Kent State 2020 Season Grade: B
Could the momentum of the great finish to the 2019 season continue? Yeah. It’s Kent State – any winning season is a good one. There weren’t any great wins among the three, and the 70-41 loss to Buffalo was crazy, but it was a fun four-game November.
Miami University 2020 Season Grade: B
It was only a three-game season, and Buffalo rolled 42-10, but the RedHawks handed eventual MAC Champion Ball State its only loss and whacked around Akron.
Ohio 2020 Season Grade: C+
There were only three games, one of them was against a mediocre Central Michigan, and the Bobcats lost. They got to play two of the MAC’s miserable teams – Akron and Bowling Green – and won.
