Breaking down and analyzing the 2021 Vanderbilt Commodores football schedule with the best and worst case scenarios.
2021 Vanderbilt Football Schedule
Vanderbilt Football Schedule Analysis: By most reasonable standards it’s not all that bad. However, Vanderbilt can’t take anything for granted after starting the season against East Tennessee State and getting UConn later on. Going to Colorado State won’t be easy, and hosting Stanford won’t be a breeze, but it would be tremendous to at least split those two.
Getting Mississippi State and Ole Miss from the West is the biggest break. No Bama, no LSU, no Auburn, and with four of the first five games at home including the date with Georgia.
Best Case Scenario: 6-6. Can the Commodores catch lighting in a bottle in September? If they can get by Colorado State and Stanford going 4-0 against non-conference teams, then it would take two SEC upsets to get to six wins. With Mississippi State, Missouri and Kentucky at home, there’s a shot.
Worst Case Scenario: 2-10. They whiff on the games against Stanford and Colorado State, beat East Tennessee State and UConn, and that’s it. While Vanderbilt should be better and will make a push in several SEC games, going winless in conference play again wouldn’t be shocking.
Games vs. The West: Mississippi State, at Ole Miss
Missed Teams From The West: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M
