2020-2021 College Football Playoff

The Rose Bowl Game Presented by Capital One

Friday, January 1
ESPN, 5:00 pm
AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
Last Season: Oregon 28, Wisconsin 27
Alabama vs Notre Dame

Knee-Jerk Instant Analysis: I’m not one of those who’ll instantly bash Notre Dame here and assume this is a total wipeout. On the contrary, the Irish might have one of the few styles and systems that can screw up the Tide as long as they’re able to stop Najee Harris and control the clock. The Bama passing game will get enough shots in late to pull away, but I don’t think it’ll be ACC Championship vs. Clemson ugly.

Knee-Jerk No Research Prediction: Alabama 44, Notre Dame 20
Early Line Guess: Alabama -20.5
Actual BetMGM Line: Alabama -19.5

Allstate Sugar Bowl

Friday, January 1
ESPN, 8:45 pm
Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, LA
Last Season: Georgia 26, Baylor 14
Clemson vs Ohio State

Knee-Jerk Instant Analysis: I’m so freaking scared to touch this game. Ohio State hasn’t been close to fully operational, and while the Big Ten totally stunk, if it was so easy to be an unbeaten Power Five champion, someone else other than Alabama and the Buckeyes would’ve done it.

There’s a part of me that thinks this is 1991 Duke basketball that waited a whole year to get a second shot at UNLV. Ohio State’s entire year has revolved around getting back on the field with this Clemson team.

Dabo is trolling, Trevor is rolling, and I’m taking the Tigers just because, but I’m not happy about it.

Knee-Jerk No Research Prediction: Clemson 35, Ohio State 31
Early Line Guess: Clemson -6.5
Actual BetMGM Line: Clemson -7.5
