It’s NC State – it’s going to bounce back.

Dave Doeren had a rough first season going 3-9 in 2013, and then the wins started coming with five straight winning campaigns, five straight bowl appearances, and two straight 9-4 seasons before last year’s clunker.

Injuries were a massive issue – especially on the defensive side – and the offense had to break into a whole slew of new parts, especially at quarterback. The team struggled to get going, but it started 4-2, and then it all fell apart.

That should all quickly change – at least that’s the hope for Doeren.

On the plus side, the defensive woes forced a whole slew of players to get on the field a bit too early, but the offensive side needs one of the young quarterback options to rise up and rock – the downfield passing game has to show up, along with the points.

Set The NC State Wolfpack Regular Season Win Total At … 6.5

It helps that the schedule just isn’t all that bad.

The Wolfpack have to play Clemson, so it might as well get the game on the road to save a home date against someone else.

There’s no Notre Dame, and missing Miami, Pitt, Virginia and Virginia Tech from the Coastal side is a huge help.

What’s the second-toughest game? At North Carolina, but that’s at the end of the regular season when the team should have a full season to get it all together. Maybe it’s Mississippi State, but that’s in Raleigh, and the Florida State game is at home.

Getting to at least six wins and a bowl game has to be a given, and if the offense can be night-and-day stronger, there’s a shot at being the No. 2 team in the Atlantic if the Pack can at least split the road games at Louisville and North Carolina.
