3. It took something epic for Tennessee to win
And if you’re a Vol fan you care, why?
After all the pain, suffering and embarrassment that Tennessee has suffered – at least, outside of two nine-win seasons under Butch Jones – the fans will take the win no matter what.
But to win like that meant it took a slew of problems to get there in the first place.
The Vols settled for field goals early. Brent Cimalgia came through with two chip shots in the second quarter to take a 6-0 lead, and he banged out a 43-yarder late in the third.
The offense didn’t really work outside of that speedy 14-point run. To make it even worse, the O was a negative on the 63-yard pick six from IU’s Jamar Johnson in the third.
