NFL Draft Underclassmen Early Entrants 2020: Who's Staying? Best Returning Pro Prospects

By

5. RB Najee Harris, Alabama

2020 NFL Projection Was: 3rd Round
2019 Stats: 209 carries, 1,224 yards (5.86 ypc), 13 TDs. 27 catches for 304 yards (11.26 ypc), and 7 TDs

The timing to come back is a wee bit unfortunate. He could turn himself into a Heisman-caliber star who could carry more of the Bama offense, but he ended the season on a hot streak, proved he could catch, and had he come out, he could’ve had just a wee bit of a boost from having a similar style as former Bama star, Derrick Henry. Harris is a former No. 1 overall recruit would certainly benefit from the playoff run Henry went on.

4. RB Travis Etienne, Clemson

2020 NFL Projection Was: 2nd Round
2019 Stats: 207 carries for 1,614 yards (7.8 ypc) and 19 TDs. 37 catches for 432 yards (11.7 ypc) and 4 TDs

He would’ve been right there in the mix with Jonathan Taylor and J.K. Dobbins to be the second running back taken after D’Andre Swift. Not used all that much this season compared to other star backs, there’s still plenty of tread on the tires, he can catch, and he can be a do-it-all top back who could be an instant starter. The NFL will have to wait for next year.

3. CB Paulson Adebo, Stanford

2020 NFL Projection Was: 2nd Round
2019 Stats: 33 tackles, 4 interceptions, ten broken up passes

The 6-1, 190-pound First Team All-Pac-12 star was one of the bright spots in an awful season or Stanford. He’s got the right size, the deep speed, and the No. 1 cover-corner skills to have been a fringe first round prospect, and definitely would’ve gone in the top 50.

2. WR DeVonta Smith, Alabama

2020 NFL Projection Was: Late 1st Round
2019 Stats: 68 catches for 1,256 yards (18.47 ypc), 14 TDs

Now he gets to be the No. 1 target in the high-powered Alabama offense – or No. 1A along with Jaylen Waddle. Forever known as the Bama legend who caught the game-winner for the national title in 2018, he led the team with 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns. At 6-1 and 175 pounds he has good size, great speed, and he would’ve been a top 50 pick who probably would’ve gone in the first round.

1. C Creed Humphrey, Oklahoma

2020 NFL Projection Was: Late 1st Round
2019 Stats: Two-time All-Big 12 performer, two-year starter

The 6-5, 316-pound two-time All-Big 12 blocker would get a tryout just about everywhere for an NFL line, and he’ll be seen as a possible tackle whenever he comes out. However, he’s a center who would’ve been an instant starter at the next level. Now he’ll anchor the Oklahoma line for another season.
