– So how do the RedHawks do this? How does a team without much of an offense end up winning the MAC and pull off eight wins? It dominates on the defensive front.

MU was sixth in the nation in tackles for loss and 17th in sacks. The D is great at coming up with timely plays, with a whopping 107 tackles for loss on the year. Even when it gets gouged by opposing running games, it still has a way of coming through when it has to, led by the terrific tandem of Kameron Butler and Doug Costin up front. On the flip side …

Louisiana doesn’t get behind the line. It has a good pass rush, but it doesn’t do a whole lot to generate tackles for loss and can be run on from time to time.

That sort of doesn’t matter in this – Miami just doesn’t run consistently well enough to make a difference – but this isn’t a RedHawk offense that functions when pressured. That shouldn’t be a big problem.

So, really … how do the RedHawks do this? Again, they really don’t do anything particularly well other than get behind the line defensively, however, they have a way of capitalizing on every opportunity.
