Head coach Matt Rhule got Baylor into the 2018 Texas Bowl – winning a 45-38 thriller over Vanderbilt – and that was a big deal after a 1-11 2017 campaign.

This year’s team made another jump to get to 11 wins – four wins more than 2018 – with two closest of close call losses to Oklahoma, and all while being in the College Football Playoff discussion up until the Big 12 title game.

Again, 1-11 in 2017 – the program came a long way.

Rhule did a masterful job building the program back up, but 2017 was an aberration. Baylor had gone bowling in eight of the nine years before this one, and to make it to the Sugar Bowl from where the school and football program were PR-wise was amazing.

It was a loss, but that’s not going to be what this season was remembered for.
