Independent Bowl Grade: A-

Notre Dame had a big moment on a good-sized stage against Iowa State in the Camping World – going on at the same time as Penn State vs. Memphis in the Cotton – and it was fantastic. Liberty coming up with its first bowl win was massive for the program, and BYU wasn’t all that bad in the loss to Hawaii.

5 Thoughts on the Hawaii Bowl

The defense gave up almost 500 passing yards and couldn’t come up with a late stop to pull off the win. Granted, it was a win on the road, and Hawaii is dangerous and was prepared, but for a program without a conference championship to play for, the bowl game was everything. It turned it over three times and lost.

Liberty Bowl Grade: A-

FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl

Cure Bowl 5 Things That Matter

It wasn’t as easy as it seems to take down the option teams – others couldn’t do it this bowl season. Liberty had to battle and hold on for dear life with late stops, but for a program that’s just getting rolling in the FBS world, simply getting the win might be a game-changer.

Notre Dame Bowl Grade: A

Camping World Bowl

Final Score: Notre Dame 33, Iowa State 9
Line: Notre Dame -3.5, o/u: 54.5
5 Thoughts on the Camping World Bowl

Iowa State was a dangerous team with a high-powered offense that went toe-to-toe with Iowa and Oklahoma in great battles, and it got rolled by an Irish team that allowed just three field goals and dominated from the start. There wasn’t any drama, making for a boring game, but a terrific performance.
