Big 12 Bowl Grade: D+

If it wasn’t for Texas blowing out Utah in the Alamo, the Big 12 would’ve flirted with a total failure of a bowl season. The Big 12 went 1-6 with Kansas State losing to Navy from the Group of Five in the Liberty, Iowa State getting blown out by Notre Dame in the Camping World, and Baylor not really in it against Georgia in the Sugar.

The Oklahoma destruction against LSU in the College Football Playoff was the real problem – that’s the league’s star that got annihilated.

5 Thoughts on the Sugar Bowl

No one really had any grand expectations, and nothing happened to change the perceptions. The Bears weren’t supposed to beat Georgia, but they battled hard, made a little push, and couldn’t get anything going until it was too late. They were outmatched, Georgia cared, and it was a loss, but whatever … they got to the Sugar Bowl.

Iowa State Bowl Grade: D

Camping World Bowl

Final Score: Notre Dame 33, Iowa State 9
Line: Notre Dame -3.5, o/u: 54.5
5 Thoughts on the Camping World Bowl

We’re past the point of being proud that Iowa State gave it a good try. Notre Dame was the better team coming into this, but it shouldn’t have been as much of a wipeout as it was. The Cyclones managed three field goals, couldn’t stop the run, and were never in it.

Kansas State Bowl Grade: C-

AutoZone Liberty Bowl

Final Score: Navy 20, Kansas State 17
Line: Navy -2.5, o/u: 53

Navy had a great season, but it’s still a Group of Five program going against a Big 12 team that knows how to handle an option offense – at least it should – and couldn’t come up with anything to slow down Malcolm Perry. Being outgained 421 yards to 170 was very, very not okay.

Oklahoma Bowl Grade: D-

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

Final Score: LSU 63, Oklahoma 28
Line: LSU -12.5, o/u: 75.5
5 Thoughts on the Peach Bowl

It was a total disaster, but the effort was there and the team never quit. Getting down 49-14 at halftime, though, and allowing close to 500 passing yards and seven touchdowns … ugh. Oklahoma was the Big 12 Champion in its third straight College Football Playoff.

Oklahoma State Bowl Grade: B

Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl

Final Score: Texas A&M 24, Oklahoma State 21
Line: Texas A&M -4.5, o/u: 55
5 Thoughts on the Texas Bowl

It was a good battle with a good effort against a decent SEC team in an even game. The Cowboy defense gave up a few late runs, but whatever. This was a Somebody Has To Lose game that could’ve gone either way.

Texas Bowl Grade: A

Valero Alamo Bowl

Final Score: Texas 38, Utah 10
Line: Utah -6.5, o/u: 55
5 Thoughts on the Alamo Bowl

On the one side, Texas fans have to be wondering where this was all year. On the other … boom. Utah was in the mix for the College Football Playoff right up until the Pac-12 Championship, and it got thumped. So, where was this? Texas looked and played like a team that finally got a little rest.
