1. UCF is still amazing
It wasn’t for the national title, and it wasn’t to make a big statement on a national scale while carrying the flag for all Group of Five programs.
It was UCF in a regular old bowl game, and it didn’t blink.
Fans always get mad at the idea of a team playing hard in a bowl game as a positive – football players are always supposed to play hard – but it would’ve been easy to mail this one in. After what this program has achieved over the last two years, focus and intensity might have been a problem.
Credit head coach Josh Heupel and the staff for the right game plan, credit the UCF veterans for obviously setting a tone for this game, and credit UCF for coming up with a third straight ten-win season.
How good has UCF been? 35-4 over the last three seasons with the four losses by a grand total of 15 points.
