1. Jimbo Fisher really, really, really, really, really needed to win the Texas Bowl
Of course Jimbo Fisher wasn’t going to be fired, or even on any sort of a hot seat if his Aggies lost the Texas Bowl to Oklahoma State.
Of course it wouldn’t have mattered all that much had his team been rocked, but …
It’s going to make the offseason a whole lot better now that his Aggies were able to pull this off.
Now the narrative that this was a good team that just so happened to play one of the nation’s most unfairly brutal schedules – Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Georgia were the losses – sort of works.
This hasn’t quite been the start to the ten-year run Fisher is going to be on with his contract, but 8-5 with 17 wins in the first two years looks a WHOLE lot better than taking a step back with a 7-6 Year Two.
