2. The ACC’s big moment
This is one of those games that helps offset other issues.
It’s not fair, and it’s not right, but over the eight-month abyss of the offseason, these bowl games get referred to over and over again.
Miami’s disaster against Louisiana Tech in the Independence was a stinger for the ACC, and Clemson’s win over Ohio State is at a whole other planet than the rest of the conference is on. Somewhere in between is the Pitt struggle against a bad MAC team in the Quick Lane and North Carolina’s blowout over Temple, but the league needed a win over a Power Five program by someone other than Clemson.
Wake Forest losing to Michigan State in the New Era Pinstripe wasn’t a plus, but Louisville made up for it by beating an SEC team.
There’s a special badge of honor for that.
Of course it’s all ridiculous. Of course this one win doesn’t mean the ACC is better than the SEC, but …
