4. Where will Penn State and Wisconsin be ranked?

Penn State (10) is the biggest piece of the puzzle when it comes to how the New Year’s Six bowls shake out.

The next-ranked Big Ten team behind the Buckeyes will end up getting the trip to the Rose Bowl. That’s a done deal if Wisconsin (12) shocks the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship, but even a good showing might be enough.

Maybe.

Penn State was a big bag of meh against a miserable Rutgers team on Saturday, while Wisconsin rocked a Minnesota (8) team on the road. Yeah, maybe, but that doesn’t mean the ranking is set. Wisconsin can be ranked higher than Penn State this week, and drop after a blowout loss to Ohio State. However, if the Badgers don’t get the bump after what they did against Minnesota, then nothing short of winning the Big Ten Championship will get them to the Rose Bowl.

If Penn State ends up going to Pasadena, that should all but wipeout the rest oft the Big Ten when it comes to the New Year’s Six bowls because …
