1. Trevor Lawrence is Trevor Lawrence
Of course Joe Burrow deserved the Heisman.
Of course he was the star of the College Football Playoff semifinals for what he did against Oklahoma.
Of course he’s the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft …
Because the NFL has a dopey rule that says you have to be three years out of high school to be eligible. If that wasn’t there, Trevor Lawrence would be the No. 1 pick.
He still hasn’t lost a game as a starter at Clemson, and it took his toughest performance yet to do it.
Absolutely rocked in the first half by the Buckeye defenders, he bounced back to close out the first half with a wild 67-yard touchdown dash – he led the Tigers with 107 rushing yards and a score.
It was his final drive, though, with the game on the line that took his legend to a whole other level.
He only hit 18-of-33 passes on the day, but threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Unlike Justin Field on the other side – he didn’t throw any picks.
And unlike Fields, Lawrence is off to play for the national title.
