3. The stars came out
There were hundreds of millions of dollars worth of NFL talent on that field.
Fields threw one interception all year, and threw two against the Tigers. Even so, balky knee and all, he threw for 320 yards and a touchdown.
JK Dobbins became the first Ohio State runner to pass 2,000 yards in a season with a brilliant 174-yard, one score night. On a gimpy ankle, he also caught six passes for 47 yards.
Travis Etienne wouldn’t be denied on an eight-yard touchdown run for the Tigers, and he caught three passes for 98 yards and two scores.
OSU superstar CB Jeff Okudah made five tackles with two broken up passes – and he should’ve been credited with a forced fumble.
Butkus winner Isaiah Simmons – the nation’s best linebacker – made four stops and a very, very big interception for Clemson.
And Chase Young …
Once again, he’ll be noted for helping to make everyone around him better, but the Heisman finalist made just two tackles and came up with one quarterback pressure.
