1. It’s a bowl win for Arizona State
The 2014 Sun Bowl against Duke. That was the last time Arizona State won a bowl game, and it has only won two since 2005.
Head coach Herm Edwards had a nice first season with a 7-6 record, a win over Arizona, and a Las Vegas Bowl loss to Fresno State.
In Year Two, it was an up-and-down campaign, but the team showed its promise and potential with the wins over Oregon and Michigan State.
And it beat Arizona again, and this time, it won a bowl game.
It wasn’t anything pretty, but Jayden Daniels finished off his freshman season with 195 passing yards and a key run for a two-point conversion – and the defense held down the Seminoles and forced all of those turnovers. But again, there wasn’t any running game, and the O settled for four Christian Zendejas field goals when there were chances to put the game away.
It’s a step in the right direction. It might not have been perfect, but 8-5 looks a whole lot nicer than 7-6.
Year Three is when it’s time to kick in, though. This is when the consistency has to come.
