The whole point of this piece is to trying finding the gems from the dozens and dozens of options, but there are only ten games to choose from. That doesn’t mean there aren’t a few that look like solid investment opportunities.

And the five games that appear to be a wee bit favorable against the spread are …

ATS PICK: Boise State

As this is being written it’s 73 degrees with a few clouds in the Honolulu sky. On Saturday, it’s supposed to be a delightful and breezy 83 degrees.

Right now in Boise there’s a bright sunshine with a good wind on a 45 degree day. On game time Saturday, the weather forecast in the Boise greater metropolitan area is expected to be windy, rainy, and a pleasant 44 degrees.

Football players are tough, and Hawaii players are going to be fine, but …

Do you like the team that needs the timing of its passing game to work in the potentially lousy conditions, or do you like the one that’s been able to run for 200 yards or more in three of its last five games and has been on a scoring bender ever since Jaylon Henderson took over at quarterback?

Boise State won the first meeting between these two 59-37, but that was way back in mid-October. The Hawaii passing game worked just fine in that game and the team still lost by 22.

This is a strong Hawaii team, and it’s hardly a slam-dunk that Boise State wins this in a walk, but this is still – in several ways – the same Bronco team that lost the Mountain West championship on its own turf to Fresno State last season.

Throw in the added bonus that a blowout win puts Boise State deeper into the mix for the Cotton Bowl – no matter what happens in the American Athletic Conference championship game between Memphis and Cincinnati – and expect a strong performance by the home team.

NEXT: Let’s try this again …
