UNLV (2-6) vs. Colorado State (3-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Just when it seemed like UNLV had a little momentum after shocking Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt, the defense fell flat in a blowout loss to Fresno State, and the O couldn’t come through late against San Diego State. Win out, or it’s yet another losing season under head coach Tony Sanchez.
On the flip side, Colorado State found a little bit of a groove with two shocking road wins to turn its season around. Forget about a bowl game – it’s not winning three of its last four with Air Force, Wyoming and Boise State to close – but at least the team is showing a sign of life.
Shockingly, it’s coming from a defense that’s finding ways to get off the field. The Rams are terrific on third down D, and UNLV is dead last in America at converting on its third down chances.
The Rebel apps defense is okay, but it’s about to be under siege. Patrick O’Brien has gone off with close to 750 yards in his last two games for the big play attack, but he’ll have to keep on bombing with the Colorado State defense about to have a world of problems with the UNLV rushing attack.
Expect at least 250 yards of UNLV rushing offense, at least 300 yards of Colorado State passing offense, and a fun all-around shootout with lost of mistakes, lots of big plays, and a third straight Ram win.
