Purdue (3-6) vs. Northwestern (1-7) Game Preview
Why Purdue Will Win
Purdue keeps on fighting.
It’s a long shot to go bowling a trip to Wisconsin and the Indiana game to close, but it’s been doing what it can to battle through a variety of injuries and issues.
And this week, its pluck is rewarded by getting the gift of the Northwestern offense.
It’s SO bad.
The Wildcats have absolutely nothing in the downfield passing game, they’re dead last in the nation in scoring averaging fewer than ten points per game, and they’re not getting any better.
Purdue has its own share of issues, but the passing game is still clicking. It’s been able to hang up 300 yards or more in three of the last four games no matter who’s at quarterback, but …
Why Northwestern Will Win
Now the Boilermakers are on their third string quarterback.
Elijah Sindelar is out with a broken clavicle, and Jack Plummer broke his ankle. Now it’s up to Aidan O’Connell, who stepped in late and was fine against Nebraska, but Northwestern has the defense to keep the Boilermaker O down.
The Wildcats have only allowed 191 passing yards per game, it’s doing a good job all the way around on defense considering it’s getting no help from the offense, and it’s been able to keep most games from getting out to hand.
They haven’t quit, and they still bring the fight, and now they’re way overdue for a break.
Purdue was already awful when it came to the turnover margin, and now Northwestern gets that third string quarterback.

What’s Going To Happen
The Northwestern offense is still just that bad.
Purdue will have its struggles, but it’ll move the ball on a few scoring drives that Northwestern won’t be able to answer for. It’ll be a good battle thanks to the Wildcat defense, but there won’t be that one big late scoring drive to pull this off at home.
