What’s Going To Happen

Can Houston salvage something out of this season with a second straight win and a 5-7 campaign?

The run defense has had its moments, but that’s mostly because teams have spent most of the time throwing on the Cougar secondary.

Tulane doesn’t run an option like Navy does, but it was able to get outside and barrel for over 300 yards on the ground back in September. Houston hasn’t seen anything like it since.

Navy still has the Navy game to go, but for now it already has bowl eligibility secured. There’s still the possibility for even more if Cincinnati beats Memphis. If that happens, a Navy win means a trip to UC for the American Athletic Conference title.

The Midshipmen running game that’s blasted away for 370 yards or more in five of the last six games – only being held in relative check – in the loss to Notre Dame. It’s going to hit the 300-yard mark this week, but Houston will do its part to keep this relatively close with a ball control offense of its own.

The Cougars just won’t be able to finish off enough drives with points.
