Kent State (3-5) vs. Toledo (5-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Toledo has had a weird and rocky season, but it’s still in the race for the West, and it’s still going bowling – or will at least be eligible – with one more win.
Injuries have been a problem, but it got its groove back a bit on offense last week with a 37-34 win over Eastern Michigan. Now it has to win, keep winning, and get some help to play for the MAC title.
Kent State won the three free space games on the slate – Kennesaw State, Bowling Green, and Akron – but overall it has been more competitive in Year Two under head coach Sean Lewis. It’s still in the MAC race, too, but it needs to win out and get a ton of help.
To just get bowl eligible, it has to win three of its last four games.
To start, the Golden Flash offense has to keep being secure with the ball – it doesn’t turn the ball over – and it has to keep the midrange passing game moving early on. The O doesn’t stay on the field long enough, and that stresses the D, Toledo doesn’t play any defense, either.
The Rockets turn the ball over way too much, but they’re great at running – they tore off 366 yards and three scores against EMU last week – and fresh off of his 259-yard day, Bryant Koback will rip through the nation’s third-worst ground game.
