Hawai’i (5-3) vs. Fresno State (3-4) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Fresno State has fallen off the map in its rebuilding year, and now it has to win three of its last five games just to go bowling. It’s not going to be easy – it’s going to take a few upsets to get there.
It has to steal one in Honolulu.
Hawaii stopped its two-game slide with a win over New Mexico, and now it’s hope for four of its last five games. First, it’s bombs away on a leaky Fresno State secondary that got hit hard for 322 yards by Colorado State’s Patrick O’Brien and did the near impossible by allowing 257 yards through the air against UNLV.
However, the Bulldogs are decent at taking the ball away. On the road, they have to be at least +2 in turnover margin, and they will be.
The problem is the lack of a consistent scoring punch. The FSU passing game will be good for 200 yards, but will that be enough to keep up?
No.
Fresno State isn’t generating any pressure in the backfield, it’s not going to be able to bother Cole McDonald – who broke character a bit and ran for 140 yards and two scores in the win last week over New Mexico.
At home, the Rainbow Warriors will keep the pressure on with consistent scoring drives in a back-and-forth shootout.
